Martin gained his degree in Naval Architecture from the University of Durham (Newcastle), England in 1954.

He has extensive and broad experience in many areas of the marine industry:

• Seagoing experience in engine room
• Fifteen (15) years shipyard management and technical departments
• Twenty five (25) years managing a marine consultancy with technical, design and survey departments
• Twenty years, while managing consultancy, as non-exclusive surveyor to Det norske Veritas
• Five (5) years operating a cathodic protection and cooling water fouling control business

Martin continues his active involvement in the corrosion and fouling protection business operating in both the U.S.A and Canada.

Martin’s expertise in vessel corrosion engineering is widely recognized.
