COMPANY HISTORY
MarineTalk portal has been in operation since 1998, initially as MarineTalk Ltd. The name and structure of the company was amended in 2001 and now Marinetalk is a business unit of Scientia Technologies Corporation - privately held, Vancouver (Canada) based company, which develops knowledge based solutions for marine and other industries.
MarineTalk has earned the respect and trust of the industry by developing and operating the leading Internet portal for marine professionals who work in the technical sector of the industry. The Company was founded in 1998 by Danek Kilinski, Mike Kilinski, and Martin Yeatman, who together with other marine professionals recognized the need for more professional resources, easier and faster access to quality information. This was combined with the vision of the Internet to be a conduit for delivery of unique knowledge based solutions that address the engineering and decision-making processes to the benefit of technical personnel engaged in design, supply, purchasing and integration of complex systems. This long-term vision was firmly anchored in gaining industry acceptance and the steady building of reputation before offering the industry any commercial products.

Procurement and integration of complex systems and equipment require optimized design, well-defined technical specifications and other important production documents. Our Solution
Scientia Technologies, MarineTalk's parent company, is developing a knowledge-based expert system that addresses the engineering and decision-making process to the benefit of designers, buyers, suppliers and integrators. This unique software is called SMaRT - System Modeling and Reasoning Technology. It is a sophisticated, expert system that guides an engineer, and especially a less experienced engineer, through the creation of designs and associated documentation in a fraction of the time and with significantly increased accuracy. This results in greatly improved communication between buyers, sellers and integrators eliminating costly errors.
