28MVA Slip Ring Assembly
 | Focal Technologies completed final acceptance testing of the large marine slip ring assembly for the FPSO application. The slip ring assembly was designed and manufactured under contract through FMC Sofec for deployment in Offshore China. Sofec will integrate the assembly into their turret swivel stack. The turret will be installed in a Tower Yoke Mooring System for a floating production, storage and off-loading (FPSO) vessel, which will allow it to weathervane about the mooring point.
Two slip rings were supplied by Focal. A utility slip ring for power and control on the tower and a larger slip ring having three, three phase, 10.5 kV / 513 A circuits. Generators on board the FPSO power three remote platforms through this slip ring. This assembly is one of the largest in the world in terms of total power transmission capability (28 MVA). The assembly has been certified for use in a Zone 1 hazardous location and is approved by DNV. |
