The Hydroxyl CleanSeaTM technology has received Lloyd’s Type Approval as a result of a successful test program in accordance with International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Resolution MEPC.2(VI). Tests onboard a ship in full operation confirmed that the effluent was at all times completely disinfected and oxidized without the use of chlorine. The equipment was also tested for shock and vibration as well as heel during onboard operating conditions. All tests achieved results better than IMO requirements.
The Hydroxyl CleanSeaTM process utilizes two non-biological treatment processes: the Positive Flotation Mechanism (PFM) and the Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP). These include primary solids separation - the removal of suspended solids, oil and grease as well as Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5) reduction. The resulting effluent, independently verified, is clear and odorless, with total suspended solids (TSS), BOD5 and Fecal Coliform concentrations considerably less than 50 mg/l and 250 MPN/100 ml, respectively, as per IMO standards.
CLEANSEATM also incorporates a complete sludge management solution, which does not require the discharge of sludge to the sea.
