Arctic Shipping 2006

      1/11/2006

Venue: Corinthia Nevskij Palace Hotel, St Petersburg, Russia

Following on from the very successful conference in Helsinki in 2005, Lloyd's List events announced the 2nd Arctic Shipping Conference. This comprehensive programme presents an expert panel of speakers who will address the issues and challenges facing shipping in the Arctic Region. The enormous potential for trade and economic developments in the Arctic region, being driven by the rapidly increasing energy exports from Russia, offers enormous challenges as a result of operating in a difficult and sometimes hostile environment.

Operating trade and shipping routes in the northern hemisphere requires a highly specialised expertise and highly specialised ships. The aim of this conference is to examine the challenges, and hear the expert speakers discuss the current state of research, design and technology in Arctic Shipping. The conference programme will include the following key sessions:

  • Developments and Opportunities in the Arctic
  • Demand and Investment Needs
  • Ship Design
  • Engineering and Propulsion
  • Risk Management
  • Ice Training & Ice Information to Support Ice Navigation
