‘Asian Shipping’ Magazine Joins The Baird Fleet

Baird Publications of Melbourne (Australia) confirmed the purchase of “Asian Shipping” magazine. The long established and well-respected magazine will continue to be published from Hong Kong by Baird Publications Limited. The magazine will be merged with Baird Publications’ well-known shipping title, “Australasian Ships and Ports”. The merged publication will be titled “Asia Pacific Shipping”. It will be printed and distributed from Singapore.

Explaining the changes, Mr. Neil Baird, Chairman of Baird Publications, said: “We have been happily dealing with Arthur Barnett, proprietor of Asia Trade Journals Ltd. for many years. We have grown to know and admire “Asian Shipping” so when Arthur decided to retire after publishing the magazine for well over twenty years, we offered to buy it. Happily, our offer was accepted, so we can now combine the talents and assets of two very good magazines to make one much better publication.

The circulation of both magazines, apart from small amount of overlap, will simply be combined to provide advertisers with much larger and more effective coverage of this very important shipping region. The editorial content will be similarly expanded to include all the same sorts of things that were in both magazines, plus more. It is a true ‘win-win’ situation for all concerned. Advertisers, subscribers and Baird Publications all stand to benefit considerably from these changes”, Mr. Baird concluded.
