Litton Marine Systems has been awarded a contract worth up to $1.8 million to supply navigation and control systems for two new frigates being built for the Moroccan Navy in France. The two frigates are based on the French Floreal Class, under construction at Chantiers de L'Atlantique in Saint Nazaire, will be fitted with BridgeMaster E military-spec tactical radar systems. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2003-2004.
Other equipment to be supplied by Litton includes a ring laser gyro attitude and heading reference system, automatic pilot, electric main steering, echo sounder, gyrocompass and magnetic compass with repeaters, GPS and other bridge systems. Litton will also provide installation and commissioning of all equipment, plus harbor and sea acceptance trials, and operator and maintenance training.
