Building & Converting Seismic Ships

Mjellem & Karlsen Verft, a Norwegian shipbuilder specializing in advanced research and seismic vessels, has signed a contract for building of a new seismic survey vessel. The design is developed by the Norwegian consultants Vik-Sandvik and is similar to M/V Veritas Viking and M/V Veritas Viking II, which were delivered to the same Owner in 1998 and 1999.

The shipyard is also engaged in converting of the seismic vessel M/V Seisquest. The vessel has recently been lengthened by 8.4 metres and the tonnage has been increased by approx. 1000 tons. The conversion work which includes outfitting and the renewal of equipment will be finished in April / May 2001.
