The ship was built at Imabari shipyard in Japan in 1976 and was originally fitted with four cargo holds, the second deck, hydraulically operated hatch cover and four 17.5t derricks . The conversion project included  shiprepair, hull structure conversion, and installation of new cement handing equipment .
