CAD/CAM Software
DEFCAR Ingenieros (Spain) has finished the software installation at the offices of IZAR Carenas Ingenieria. This included the DFform modules of hull design and faring and DFhydro - naval architecture calculations. DEFCAR also provided a training course using an example of a 182m long tanker, which is being converted in Carenas Cadiz. One of the first applications for this new suite of software will be a French ferry hull modification design that includes addition of sponsons in order to increase the vessel’s stability. |
DFform uses surfaces for defining vessel forms and allows the definition of the vessel in a continuous three-dimensional way. In shiprepair, users often have the forms from an existing vessel and want to "input" them into DEFCAR system. DFform adjusts the surfaces to the reference points with a high precision of the identification in the order of 1 mm, depending on the quality of the pre-existing forms. DEFCAR software was chosen after a comprehensive evaluation of its features based on the positive experience of IZAR Carenas Cartagena, which has been using DFhydro for some time already. IZAR Carenas Ingenieria is a new business unit of IZAR, recently created to support conversions carried out by all four shipyards of IZAR Carenas (Carenas Cadiz, Carenas Cartagena, Carenas Ferrol-Fene and Carenas San Fernando). | |
