Canadian Hydrographic Conference 2000 (CHC 2000)
15-19 May, 2000 - Montreal, Canada
CHC 2000 "Hydrography: People Forging Alliances" is a continuation of a series of hydrographic conferences, workshops and exhibitions that alternate between the United States and Canada. The event was established 25 years ago by the International Hydrographic Commission Canada/USA. The last U.S. Hydrographic Conference was held in Mobile, Alabama, in April 1999, and the last Canadian conference was held in Victoria, British Columbia, in 1998.
The event provides a forum to exchange ideas and information among the marine community as a whole as well as hydrography and geomatics stakeholders, including commercial navigators, inshore and offshore fishermen, recreational boaters, engineers and scientists, developers, government, industry and institutional representatives. Technical presentations have been organized along eight sessions over the three core days of the Conference.
Two events will precede the Conference: A Forum linking geomatics and navigation information for mariners and managers involved in the use of hydrographic data; and a workshop on CARIS Marine and Hydrographic software sponsored by CARIS-Universal Systems Limited. An exhibition and a poster session will be simultaneously held during the CHC2000.
