CONOSHIP Model Proves Successful

      3/16/1999

CONOSHIP International is the marketing, sales and design arm of ten northern Dutch shipbuilders. Each shipyard is privately owned and is a shareholder in Conoship that markets them abroad, a situation that is unique in Europe at the moment. Conoship International proves to be a successful medium for collaboration, project coordination and exchange of knowledge, and a window to the world market.

The vast majority of multipurpose dry cargo ships built in the Netherlands originate from Conoship yards. Together, they account for some 8% of worldwide deliveries of vessels less than 10,000 dwt. By joining forces in Conoship, shipyards have been very successful in obtaining repeat orders for multipurpose dry cargo vessels - they have presently 40 vessels under construction.
In addition to supporting the individual member firms' commercial efforts, Conoship International offers a high degree of technical expertise to develop and tailor designs to the specific requirements of shareholder yards' and/or of specific owner requirements or market needs.

The flexibility of the design department in Conoship's Groningen office mirrors the reputation of the cooperating shipbuilders for both one-off specialised vessel types as well as series-produced cargo vessels.
