Cargo Access/Handling Systems from MacGREGOR
Under a contract totalling about US$5 million for both shipsets, MacGREGOR is supplying stern access, side loading and hatch cover systems for another pair of 14,800 dwt RoLo forest products carriers. These versatile cargo access/handling shipsets designed by MacGREGOR will forest products carriers ordered from the Stocznia Gdynia yard by Swedish owner B&N, and Palkkiyhtyma of Finland. |
Safe and efficient cargo handling will be executed by a MacGREGOR outfit serving the four holds and comprising: - Hydraulically-operated stern ramp/door with a length (excluding flaps) of 18m and a clear driveway of 12m
- Side-loading system installed on the starboard side, incorporating a watertight door enclosing single and double loading platforms arranged with three independent 16-tonne capacity conveyors
- Three cargo elevators connected to the loading platforms, each designed to handle a paper reel load of up to 16 tonnes with a maximum lifting speed of around 27m/min
- Folding hatch cover sets for the weatherdeck and tweendeck
