Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems (KMSS) has recently won a number of significant orders for its cargo monitoring systems in Japan and Korea. KMSS AutroCARGO is an integrated cargo handling system designed to also operate as a Custody Transfer System (CTS), offering the unique AutroCAL calibration/verification method. The system is radar based, reliable and accurate and includes level, pressure and temperature sensing devices.
KMSS radar based gauges are situated on the top of the tanks with no parts inside that can break down or degrade, practically eliminating unscheduled downtime. Tanks may go for years without being opened, therefore the fewer moving parts or electrical cabling present better solution. Accurate and reliable figures during all stages of loading, transporting and discharging are essential.
The CTS generates detailed cargo reports based on accurate measurements and calculations. The system measures ullage, temperature and pressure to calculate levels, vapour and liquid average temperatures and cargo volumes at average liquid temperatures. The essential part of the AutroCargo CTS system is the GL-100 radar-based level gauge. It consists of the GLA-100 Level Sensing Unit located on the tank connected to a Signal Processing Unit normally located in the cargo control room. Dedicated signal processing ensures reliable operation of the overall system in the event of a malfunction of one of the units.
