Cargo Systems for Polish Built Carriers

Under a contract totalling about US$5 million for both shipsets, MacGREGOR is supplying cargo access/handling systems for a pair of 14,800 dwt RoLo forest products carriers. Versatile cargo access/handling shipsets designed by MacGREGOR will serve two RoLo forest products carriers ordered from Poland's Stocznia Gdynia yard by Swedish owner B&N, and Palkkiyhtyma of Finland. The pair is due for delivery in first quarter 2001 and options are held on another four of the class.

Safe and efficient cargo handling will be executed by a MacGREGOR outfit serving the four holds and comprising:
  • a hydraulically-operated stern ramp/door with a length (excluding flaps) of 18m and a clear driveway of 12m
  • a side loading system installed on the starboard side, incorporating a watertight door enclosing single and double loading platforms arranged with three independent 16-tonne capacity conveyors
  • three cargo elevators connected to the loading platforms, each designed to handle a paper reel load of up to 16 tonnes with a maximum lifting speed of around 27m/min
  • folding hatch cover sets for the weatherdeck, and tweendeck levels of holds 1, 2 and 4.
MacGREGOR is also commissioned to supply four bulkhead doors, four shell doors and four power packs.
