ClassDirect Live by Lloyd's Register

ClassDirect Live, a major new interactive system for delivering live ship survey status information via the Internet, was launched by Willem de Jong, managing director of the Lloyd's Register (LR) Marine Division. Using Web technology, LR has integrated the best of its databases to form the most comprehensive database in the marine industry - one which contains the complete and up to date construction, classification and statutory survey history of LR-classed ships. And LR's recently implemented electronic survey reporting system enables its surveyors to input their reports into this database accurately, consistently and quickly. ClassDirect Live will give shipowners and operators immediate live access via the Internet to this constantly renewed store of safety and business critical information. At the same time, shipowners and operators have sole and secure access to data on their own fleets. Managed access will ensure complete confidentiality. LR's databases contain information on:

  • LR survey status and history;
  • the world fleet (all ships, including non-LR ships);
  • technical data including as-built details and incident/defect;
  • Rules and technical standards.
