Fairbanks Morse has received an order for four Colt-Pielstick PC2.5 marine engines that will propel the second ship in the U.S. Navy's LPD (Landing Platform Dock) program. The sixteen-cylinder diesel engines, each capable of generating 10,400 horsepower, are scheduled for delivery to Avondale Industries, Inc., the New Orleans-based shipbuilder, in 2000. The first ship set of engines for LPD-17 are under construction at the Fairbanks Morse factory in Beloit, WIsconsin.
