A new Combined Simulator Complex to be supplied by Transas to the UAE Coast Guard Institute incorporates three interactive systems including Navigational, Vessel Traffic Management and GMDSS simulators. The navigational part of the complex consists of a full-mission, main bridge and 6 auxiliary bridges, all installed on a PC network. The main bridge equipment replicates the actual bridge of UK-built fast patrol boats used by the UAE Coast Guard. This is the first simulator to incorporate a realistic reproduction of the actual fire control system, which is fitted onboard the Coast Guard’s patrol boats.
The UAE Coast Guard simulator ensures realistic physical and behavioral functions. The Navigation and Fire Control Unit has a facility for switching between night and daytime viewing modes, and is capable of displaying radar and navigational information on a single screen. A dedicated joystick provides control of the simulated Navigation and Fire Control systems, and the effect of any fire commands generated from this equipment will be immediately shown on the 3-channel visual screen.
For the new simulator, Transas is producing three new sailing areas, in which the national cadets can master their vessel operational skills. These areas will include the ports of Dubai and Abu-Dhabi, as well as the passage area between the two ports. The mathematical model of the fast patrol craft used by the UAE Coast Guard, will be incorporated in the simulator to enhance the effect of the training it provides.
