Today, the international maritime industry faces new challenges as it emerges from the global financial crisis. It is therefore understandable that the industry's priority and attention is on consolidation and continued survival. However, at such a time it is all the more important for the industry to look ahead in order to respond to the continuing challenges it will face from the increasing demands of operators, regulators and society for greater efficiency, safety and the protection of the environment, as it emerges from the current crisis. This response will require innovative thinking from all sectors of the maritime industry, and particularly those involved in ship design and construction.

The International Conference on Ship & Offshore Technology (ICSOT) - Indonesia 2010 will take "Developments in Ship Design & Construction" as its theme, and will bring together members of the international maritime industry to present and discuss the latest developments in the ship design and construction process which will provide the improvements in productivity and cost-competitiveness necessary to respond to the demand for lower cost of ownership and greater environmental sensitivity. ICSOT - Indonesia 2010 will celebrate the unique occasion of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, the 100th anniversary of the founding of PT DPS and the 50th anniversary of the founding of ITS.
