The Malin 6000 is the latest development from Malin Instruments. It meets growing demands of users to have available other information for use in conjunction with pressure data. The new model has many added features that help to analyze injection characteristics, vibration, allow viewing real time data, etc.
The Malin 6000 is designed to accept signals from an instrumented injection system, should it become necessary to undertake detailed investigations of the injection characteristics. This data is synchronised with the pressure trace and stored in the same file. Using a clip on sensor on the fuel pipe, a good estimate can be made of the start of injection.
The Analyser can also provide useful information about the mechanical condition of a unit using vibration information. This is a qualitative measurement, in the sense that a base line must be established, but it can give early indication of such common problems as broken piston rings. The other useful feature is a free running mode, which allows the engineer to view real time data on the instrument display. The data is continuously updated. Peak pressure with min’ max’ and mean values are also displayed. This mode is very useful when making adjustments to the engine.
