Dismantling of Obsolete Vessels

The 3rd International Conference on ‘Dismantling of Obsolete Vessels aims to explore the recent trends in ship dismantling and recycling to develop strategies and processes to set up an innovative ship-dismantling site in European Union, and discuss the issues related to high demand for ship recycling at the end of this decade towards the adoption of new international regulations. Contributions are invited on topics such as ship dismantling processes, optimization of ship breaking facilities, environmental issues, cost, decision support systems for the industry and case studies.

Proposed Session Themes:
  • Dismantling process
  • Innovative recycling methods
  • Identification, removal and disposal of toxic materials
  • Cost considerations
  • Environmental & Health issues
  • Decision support system

The programme will include some invited papers aiming to present the main issues relevant to the above topics.

Call for Papers
Abstracts of about 300 words on any of the above topics are invited by 10 June 2010. Upon review by the Technical Advisory Panel, notification will be given by 30 June 2010.
