Document Management in Masa Yards

Proha Plc and Kvaerner Masa Yards made an agreement on providing an Internet-based document management system for shipbuilding. In the first phase, the service is provided for Masa Yards Inc and its subcontractors in shipbuilding projects taking place in the Turku and Helsinki Shipyards and Piikkiö Works. The implementation and further development of the service begins in November 2000.

This shipbuilding document management service is meant for both internal and external designers at a shipyard as well as subcontractors. With the service, design work can be done independently of time and place and the client is offered a complete document management solution.

The service contains all essential document management functions, such as effective information retrieval and update, versatile printing, copying, distribution, and mailing requests, and communication services. In addition, the solution has interfaces for storing, converting, and scanning services. Functions and services are equally available to all participants of a shipbuilding project according to their user privileges.
