ECDIS and Worldwide Chart Database

C-MAP/Commercial announced that Litton Marine Systems’ Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) are now compatible with C-MAP’s CM-93® Edition 3 electronic worldwide chart database. C-MAP's CM-93/3 electronic charts are distributed in a highly compressed format requiring only one CD for the entire world. This CD includes over 15,000 electronic charts for all ports, harbors and coastal areas.

C-MAP designed CM-93/3 to be fully compliant with S-57 Edition 3.0, the international standard issued by the IHO (International Hydrographic Office) defining the format and contents of electronic charts used with ECDIS. CM-93/3 is read directly by C-MAP compatible ECDIS, thus saving time and avoiding potential errors associated with onboard chart compilation of S-57 electronic charts.According to Eric James, Operations Manager for C-MAP/Commercial, “The combination of C-MAP’s expertise in producing the world’s most complete and accurate vector electronic chart database - along with Litton’s ECDIS and IBS designs – promises to be a winning combination for professional mariners.” He added, “One of the most powerful features of a CM-93/3 compatible system is the ability to support online chart updating by automatically applying Notice to Mariner corrections at the push of a button.”
