EU Funded Visits

Places are now available for funded visits of up to several months duration to the Ocean Systems Laboratory at Heriot-Watt University. The laboratory is part of an EU funded infrastructure facility (EIERO) in the area of Energy Research Optimisation together with the University's Department of Petroleum Engineering. Research topics of interest include (but are not limited to) image analysis, computer vision, subsea robotics, signal processing, sensor fusion, autonomous underwater vehicles, though water communication, navigation, control, sonar modelling and design.

The facility provides free access to a range of analytical laboratories and computing facilities for researchers working in the Community or an associated state (Bulgaria, the Republic of Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia). Researchers interested in coming to Edinburgh are asked to make informal contact initially, leading to completion of a simple application form together with a two page research proposal to Professor David Lane.
