Electrical Systems Seminar


DC Maritime Technologies Inc is holding a 3 day seminar in Houston Texas from 26th to 28th October 1999 on Marine & Offshore Electrical Systems Design concepts, surveys and documentation requirements. The seminar will be at the La Quinta Inn (Room charge $59-66/night.) The cost will be US$895.00 including workbook and reference material. (Note Register before 5 October for a 10% discount). The class size is limited and so early registration is recommended.

The seminar will be useful to Operating Engineers, Surveyors, & Port Engineers who may be responsible for electrical systems and would like to learn about some of the basic "Magic"! The seminar will also provide Design Engineers, Project Engineers & Managers with some basic system concepts and an insight into design considerations, regulatory constraints and what to look for in a survey.

The seminar will:

  • Cover basic system design concepts from ohms law through to short-circuit current calculations, load analyses, protection and equipment requirements.
  • Review the regulator requirements of Classification, Coast Guard, the IEC and the new IEEE.
  • Discuss what documentation is required for regulatory review - what is too much and what is too little.
  • Overview hazardous area requirements for different types of vessels
  • Outline different approaches to electrical system surveys – their organization, purpose and intent and what to look for.
