Electronic Chart Management Service

      10/31/2000

Offshore Systems International (OSL) announced PortMan, the latest Internet based electronic chart Portfolio Management service for commercial and government fleets. PortMan is implemented through a combination of sophisticated Internet-enabled database software and highly trained service personnel. PortMan automates the management and updating of electronic chart portfolios on fleets as small as one vessel, or as large as thousands, regardless of the type of electronic chart system or type and source of chart data on use aboard each vessel.

Offshore has managed its customer’s chart portfolios for many years, and counts both the U.S. and Canadian Coast Guards and many of the Great Lakes carriers as customers. PortMan customers have direct access to knowledgeable staff who handle the more complex transactions, while the e-commerce capabilities provide more routine day-to-day support. Through an Internet connection PortMan customers can consult with OSL on the most appropriate data types for their needs, purchase new charts, renew existing licenses, and subscribe to PortMan‘s consolidated chart update service. In short, PortMan eliminates the overhead on each ship that would normally be required to maintain and update an electronic chart portfolio, saving the customer time and money.
