Arab Heavy Industries (Ajman) has been growing from strength to strength providing shiprepair and conversion, newbuilding and fabrication services to the Persian Gulf marine and construction market. AHI is owned by the Government of Ajman, the Al Futtaim Group, Keppel Hitachi Zosen (KHZ) and some smaller investors. KHZ manages the operation of the yard with experienced senior managers seconded from Singapore. Together with its subsidiary company Arab Eagle Marine in Dubai, which specializes in afloat and anchorage repairs, AHI offers the full range of ship repairs and conversion anywhere in the Gulf.
AHI claims to be the only medium sized shipyard catering specifically to vessels up to 30,000 dwt. With the commissioning of their new 30,000 dwt graving dock measuring 175m by 32m, AHI can now offer better comprehensive shipcare services to its existing and also new clientele. The dock has been fully booked and to date 31vessels have been successfully docked.
The 160m drill ship Frontier Discoverer, was reactivated at AHI on a fast track project to prepare her for her drilling project in SE Asia.
Extensive steel renewals, piping and electrical repairs were done to upgrade the condition of the rig to first class standards. The 4,170 dwt LPG tanker MAIDO was the first ever LPG tanker to be docked at AHI. The AHI engineers took on the challenge, meeting all the standards required by vessel and owners to deliver the vessel in time to a fully satisfied Client.
