Fast Missile Patrol Craft for Egyptian Navy

Halter Marine, a subsidiary of Friede Goldman Halter has been chosen by the Egyptian Navy to build four Ambassador MK III Fast Missile Patrol Craft (FMC). The vessels will be a continuation of the successful Ambassador Class Patrol Craft previously designed and built by Halter. Lockheed Martin, a key subcontractor, will provide combat system design and integration. The contract also includes spare parts and technical services. Construction is anticipated to begin in the second quarter of 2001, in Halter's Mississippi facilities.

Ambassador Mark II

The Ambassador MK III (FMC) will be 60.62 meters long (199 feet) and will have a diesel propulsion system. The FMC platform is the latest evolution of a proven Halter Ambassador Class patrol craft design, enhanced by the addition of advanced signature reduction done with the assistance of Lockheed Martin's Advanced Technology Laboratories. The Ambassador MK III FMC provides the Egyptian Navy with the latest in technology and defense capability for any vessel in this class. It uses effective and efficient integration of the most modern and exportable sensors and weapons deployed on this type of platform to date.
