Fast VLCCs

Daewoo Heavy Industries has signed a $140 million contract to build two 300,000-ton very large crude carriers for a Greek tanker firm.
The two VLCCs will be the fastest such vessels built by the company with a maximum cruising speed of 16.5 knots or 30 km per hour. The company said it would do its best to build the fastest VLCC in the world, relying on its experience of building 41 VLCCs to cut the construction period from a year to just eight months this time.
