The RISE® firesafe collars consist of two metal caps filled with FRR/EHF (fire resistant rubber/expanding, halogen free) rubber. As soon as these steel caps are subjected to heat, the FRR/EHF rubber inside will expand vigorously and, as a result, it will in a very short time seal off the opening left by the softened or combusted plastic pipe. | | The expanded rubber possesses good thermal insulation properties, ensuring that the softened pipe will re-harden after compression. In this way the spread of fumes and flames is prevented for an extended period of time. No toxic fumes are produced upon heating or exposure to fire.
