Flat Screen Technology for Radars

A new flat-screen technology navigation radar has been recently introduced by the Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit. The new radar incorporates all the features and offers the same performance as the current BridgeMaster E series. It has been repackaged in a compact Vision FTTM cabinet. This new styling, which has previously only been available for use in integrated bridge systems, is now available for stand-alone radar configurations.

The Vision FT cabinet has been optimized for large, high-resolution flat-panel monitors, providing navigators with clear, crisp radar images. The radars also feature a totally new user interface incorporating a proprietary ergonomic trackball for improved control in all sea conditions, and a tactile control panel providing dedicated controls for the most important radar functions. The new BridgeMaster E 340 is fully type approved for S-band, X-band, up-mast/down-mast transceiver configurations on both conventional and high-speed craft. It is also type approved in the dual-channel configuration, combining both S- and X-band returns into a single, integrated display. As is common with all BridgeMaster E radars, the new system incorporates automatic clutter suppression technology.
