Hanjin Delivers LNG Carrier

Hanjin Shipping Co Ltd has taken delivery of its fourth owned membrane-type LNG carrier from Hanjin Heavy Industries Yongdo Shipyard in Pusan. The fifteenth of its kind in Korea, the Hanjin Ras Laffan is a highly specialised ocean carrier equipped with advanced safety features and ultra-strong construction.

The LNG ship has sophisticated cryogenic containment tanks, which maintain cargo at minus 260 degrees Fahrenheit, or 13 degrees above absolute zero. The temperature is maintained until unloading at a re-gasification plant, where the fuel is stored until distribution. The Hanjin Ras Laffan has a gas storage capacity of 138,366 cubic meters, is 280 meters long, 43 meters broad and 26.2 meters high.
