HiSpeed - Ship Design Software


After two years of R&D, Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.(HHI) developed HiSpeed (Hyundai Integrated Ship Performance Evaluation & Design System) and is usefully applying it to ship design. HiSpeed, which contains information on hundreds of ships built in the past, is a computer-based system for evaluating the hydromechanical performance of ships and for designing the shape of the hull and the propeller.
Hull and propeller design are critical elements in the process of building a ship and demonstrate the technical ability of a shipyard to determine a ship's speed, which is a very important factor in competition to win shipbuilding orders. With the HiSpeed system, HHI has secured a competitive edge in hull form and propeller design. The system efficiently coordinates and integrates the entire process of hull form and propeller design, which has been done separately until now. HiSpeed allows to develop better designs for the entire hydromechanical performance, from hull form planning, hull form design and fairing, propeller design and model tests to sea trial tests. It assists in optimizing the design for the hull form and propeller by searching and using a database that contains all the information, from basic design to testing, for about three hundred ships.
