IMarEST Develops Young Members’ Network

A new Hellenic Joint Branch IMarEST Young Members’ Network has recently been launched. It is designed to support educational and early stage career needs for students and young marine professionals. The network will form an integral element of the already established Greek Joint branch of The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) and The Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) which has over 600 members.

“Young engineers and scientists are the lifeblood of the marine industry, and we can play an important role in their development,” explains IMarEST (The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology) Chief Executive, Keith Read CBE. “We are delighted that the Joint Hellenic Branch is launching a Young Members’ Network in their region.

The IMarEST Young Members’ Network, which also has active network throughout the UK branches and Houston, Texas, is designed to support educational and early stage career needs for students and young marine professionals. Benefits include:

  • Access to the enormous collection of books, journals and technical papers in the IMarEST marine information centre
  • Making industry contacts through IMarEST’s worldwide branch network
  • Getting involved special events for students, debates (e.g. the Climate Change debate), lunch-and-learn industry events, speed networking all aimed at helping to make industry contacts
  • Attending technical talks, social events to help further their education and/or career
  • Planning career goals, careers support and advice
