Improvements to Propellers

SISTEMAR offers solutions for ships in service that are fitted with conventional propellers exhibiting high noise and/or vibration levels. Together with propeller manufacturers, SISTEMAR helps to modernize propellers in order to obtain better performance, in line with CLT propeller.

CLT propellers offer higher efficiency resulting in fuel savings at constant ship speed or alternatively ship speed increase at constant fuel consumption. Trawlers and tugs achieve an increase in the pulling force. The downstream overpressure produced by a CLT propeller is higher than that for an equivalent conventional propeller. This increases the pressure on the rudder and thus improves the ship’s response to the rudder action. A substantial reduction of the turning circle for any given rudder angle can be achieved. Additional benefits are reduction of both time and distance required to stop the ship in a crash stop maneuver and an increase of the course keeping stability. CLT propellers are tip-vortex free and produce less hull vibration and noise.
