Improving Inert Gas Welding
Weld contamination can be caused by a number of reasons. It only takes a small variation in the inert gas mixture to affect the quality of weld. Not only the weld appearance can be affected but its reduced strength can endanger the structural integrity of welded parts. Witt, the Germany based gas technology specialist, has introduced the portable, compact and light weight PA-O2/CO2 gas analyser to monitor and measure gas mixture flowing to the torch. |
Oxygen is the most important and easiest contaminant to measure because it can identify the infiltration of all atmospheric contaminants, for example moisture or nitrogen, which can corrupt pure gases through any fault in the filling, storage or delivery system. Experts advise to exercise strict control of gas quality directly at the point of use. Witt's PA gas analysers can monitor the CO2 and O2 concentration as often as required, even continuously. This helps to ensure that the gas mixture at the point of use is correct, improving quality and reducing waste. Witt's Logger Software enables recording the last 100 measurements for quality control purposes. If the gas contents exceed the set minimum or maximum limits, an alarm is activated. According to the company, the analyser is easy to use and has a multilingual menu guide. | |
