Innovative Water Treatment

CleanSea Vanguard water treatment systems have been designed to complement Hydroxyl Systems' CleanSea product line of marine sanitation devices. These new systems are now available to the marine industry for disinfection and treatment of drinking water and pool/spa water onboard cruise ships, naval and ferry fleets. Vanguard technology inactivates a multitude of waterborne diseases such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia, E-Coli, Legionella and Norwalk. It also provides a valuable dual barrier approach to the disinfection of water systems when used in conjunction with residual chlorination systems for improved certainty that water is fully disinfected and free from waterborne disease.

With the implementation of Vanguard, chlorine usage is significantly reduced as it is used only for residual protection. The benefits of this approach include lower operating costs, less handling of chlorine, and lower volume of chlorine storage onboard. Vanguard also reduces chloramines in the water which are a major source of chlorine odor, resulting in improved user satisfaction for both crew and passengers. Installation and operation of the system are simple. It can be incorporated into existing water piping systems with no impact on operations. CleanSea product line has been proven by the BC Ferries (Canada) fleet for years as well as aboard Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas. The introduction of Vanguard expands the utilization of this specialized technology to provide the marine industry with a more comprehensive and beneficial approach for onboard water and wastewater treatment. Work is underway with Royal Caribbean to install four such water treatment systems.
