Integrated Ship Management System

Emerald Shipping (Malta) has ordered an integrated management system for all new buildings from the German software company AVECS Corporation AG. The first vessel will be equipped with a complex integrated management system including Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) and will be prepared for the Automatic Identification System (AIS) in March 2002. The system not only consists of electronic safety and quality management but also includes all technical parameters, which are relevant for the running of a vessel.

The automatic data transfer between ship-company-ship offer the company the possibility to continuously monitor their vessels. Over a longer period of time these data can be used as a base for realistic and objective analysis, statistics and forecasts important for financial and safety reporting. By the co-ordination of several interfaces, data flows are merged to facilitate access to an objective and actual situation report of the vessel’s condition at any time. All relevant technical and nautical data can be viewed at the same time. A decision support system guides operators during normal operation and also during an emergency to facilitate quick and accurate actions. All AVECS systems are certified by German Lloyd, Lloyd’s Register, Det Norske Veritas, ClassNK and ABS (more than 3000 installations world-wide).
