Intelligent Autopilot

NavSim Technology announced release of its innovative software BoatCruiser designed to use with marine autopilots for pleasure boats. Currently available autopilots are only effective in open waters at higher speeds using only the boat rudder for directional control. By incorporating engines, rudders and bow thrusters to control a boat at any speed and under various conditions, NavSim™ technology has introduced a new level of sophistication for the pleasure boats.

BoatCruiser, based on artificial intelligence technology, controls heading, speed, and corrects the off-route distance of the boat during low speed as well as high speed manoeuvring. It includes prediction capability and the software can continuously “learn” from each navigational experience. The beta version incorporates several important features such as graphical user interface, links to current weather information, low computer memory consumption, manual mouse control, and the added feature of BoatTheatre - a method of reviewing trajectory history. With real-time access to global and local navigational systems (electronic charts, weather, tides, GPS etc.), this compact package is particularly helpful during navigation in bad weather and difficult traffic conditions. While designed as a real-time monitoring system on-board the boat, BoatCruiser is also useful for off-line training.
