Large Lift Boats
Bollinger Shipyards (USA) delivered the Superior Storm, the first of two nearly identical 245-foot class liftboats built for Superior Energy Services (Louisiana, USA). With leg lengths of more than 230-feet, the liftboat can operate in water depths to 180-feet, and is equipped with a 250-ton capacity crane. The Superior Storm is 141-feet in length, with a molded hull beam of 67-feet and hull depth of 13-ft. It has 6,550 sq. ft. of useable deck space and a cargo lifting capacity of 1 million pounds.
The self-propelled vessel is powered by two Caterpillar 3512 diesel engines driving through Twin Disc reverse/reduction gears. Electrical power is supplied by two 190 kW generator sets of 480V, 3 phase, 60 Hz with one main switchboard and one auxiliary. According to Bollinger Shipyards, the Superior Storm is the first vessel Classed under the ABS Lift Boat Guide Rules recently enacted by the American Bureau of Shipping. The vessel can perform heavy lifts and support pipeline tie-ins and other construction-related projects. | |
