SPURS - the new Line, Net & Weed Cutter provides a positive solution to an age old problem. Once a line, net or weed is caught by the propeller blades it is instantly wound to the base of the propeller where the sharp rotating spur blades sever it with each revolution and the pieces are washed away as the vessel cruises from danger.
SPURS cutter assembly is mounted on the shaft forward and adjacent to the propeller, actively cutting with each revolution of the propeller. The cutter continuously rotates protecting the propeller and work at any time the vessel is moving ether forward or reverse with no loss of speed or efficiency. Without SPURS, lines nets or weeds can damage and disable a vessel whenever spooling is caught onto the blades and shafts. Each rotating cutter is identical in weight and balanced making potential vibration impossible. The actual cutting action is a result of a stationary held cutter blade being forced against the rotating cutter blades at the instant that a restriction occurs and the material is fed into the cutting vice.
Face wear surfaces separate all metal moving parts and are easily replaceable. With an annual inspection it takes only minutes to determine if replacement is necessary and for the actual procedure to be completed. The cutters are designed to last indefinitely and blade sharpening is unnecessary due to the fact that the blades automatically hone themselves as a cut is made.
