A purpose-built linkspan in the Finnish port of Hanko will provide a complete MacGREGOR RoRo access system for two Superfast ferries entering a new Baltic service next year. The linkspan is hydraulically operated and can be secured at a height to suit the tidal level. The vessels’ MacGREGOR stern ramps will rest on top of the linkspan, and cargo handling can start as soon as this is in position.

The shore ramp to the upper deck comprises a fixed section and a hydraulically operated movable section, with a total length of about 90m. The movable ramp is 7m wide and about 28m in length, including a 6.5m-long flap. From the terminal building a walkway will take passengers to a movable gangway via a tower and a fixed gangway over the traffic lanes. The movable passenger gangway will be hinged at the shore end and rest on the vessel.

MacGREGOR bought linkspan specialist NORENT AB earlier this year to extend the scope of RoRo capabilities that it can offer shipowners and operators. This enables the Group’s RoRo Ship Division to design and supply complete logistics solutions to maximise port turnaround efficiency for ferries and RoRo freight vessels.
