MacGREGOR Equipment for World of ResidenSea

The world's first luxury floating resort will feature MacGREGOR elevators, various types of doors, hatches and other equipment in packages worth a total of around US$2 million. An exclusive residential community at sea is the unique concept behind The World of ResidenSea, which will feature 110 apartments. The 40,000gt vessel is under construction at Norway's Fosen Mek Verksteder yard and is scheduled to enter service in 2001.

The World of ResidenSea's elevator specification comprises eight MacGREGOR elevators, four of which are designated for passenger use and four for service use. All elevators use KONE MR machinery and KONE TMS 600 controllers. The passenger elevators will be installed in two groups of two, and their operating heights are 21m. All of the passenger units have a travelling speed of 1.6m/s and are rated for 800kg or 10 passengers.
Service elevators are arranged in one group of two, plus two single units. Operating heights are 24m, 18m and 27m respectively. Three of the service elevators are rated at 800kg, while the fourth unit has a 1,100kg capacity. As with the passenger elevators, the travelling speed is 1.6m/s.

MacGREGOR's Passenger Ship Division will supply a turn-key elevator package to the vessel, while the Group’s Global Services Division office in Norway has been awarded the contract to supply other equipment such as entrance doors, stores doors, bunker doors, tendering/pilot doors, shore connection doors, mooring hatches, stern door/marina platform, etc.
