Monohull Ferry Launch
WaveMaster International launched its new generation 50–metre high-speed monohull ferry one week ahead of schedule, on Saturday 29 April 2000. In announcing the early launch, WaveMaster’s Managing Director, Mr. Christopher Gerrard, praised the Company’s design and production team, for their dedication and commitment to meeting the customer’s schedule. |
Mr. Gerrard said, “Everyone at WaveMaster has worked incredibly hard to achieve this launch date. This was a very tight build schedule, and despite this, the fact that we are launching early is a tribute to their determination to make it happen”. |
The new ferry, recently christened “SPEEDY” by her owner, has certainly lived up to her name, since construction began just over 4 months ago in December last year. SPEEDY will commence four weeks of demanding sea trials before final acceptance and delivery to her owner in Germany. This new vessel will be the largest aluminium monohull ferry exported by an Australian Shipyard to Europe. |
