More Orders for Daewoo
Daewoo Heavy Industries is reported to have received orders for seven ships including four ULCCs (Ultra Large Crude Carrier), one VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) and two 75,000dwt bulkers totally amounting to $483million. |
Daewoo announced on December 22 that it recently succeeded in winning orders for four 450,000 tons ULCCs from Majestic Shipping Co., one 300,000 tons VLCC from Aeolos Management S.A and two 75,000 dwt bulkers from Atlantic Bulk Carrier Ltd. The 380m long and 68m wide ULCCs are scheduled to be delivered by the latter part of 2002. |
An official of the company said ‘There are a few shipyards in the world which have facilities and equipment to build ULCCs. Daewoo Heavy Industries is No. 1 shipyard among the shipbuilding companies because it can not only build ULCCs but also construct them efficiently and effectively’. |
