OceanTools, a company developing inertial motion sensing navigation equipment, has announced the launch of it’s latest product, the MotionFOG. Developed to meet the motion-sensing requirements of the global marine & survey markets, the MotionFOG is an advanced, compact and cost effective strap down inertial measurement system comprising of three accurate fibre optic gyrocompasses and three high specification accelerometers. The signal outputs include heading, heave, pitch & roll, acceleration rates and rotations in 6 axis.

The new unit has been developed from the company’s proven MiniFOG true north seeking gyrocompass system. In addition to the ability to measure Heading, Pitch and Roll, the MotionFOG is capable of measuring Heave with great accuracy. Managing Director, Kevin Parker said “This new product provides the perfect compliment to our existing product range of fibre optic gyrocompasses. In addition it opens up new markets to us. In the Survey Industry for instance with applications for the correction of multi-beam sonar data.In the past offshore vessels have fitted a gyrocompass and motion sensor. The MotionFOG replaces two systems with one fully integrated unit.” he added.
