Kockums Computer Systems (KCS) has announced the new Basic Design application of the TRIBON M1 Shipbuilding system on Windows NT. It generates reliable basic design documentation such as general arrangement and classification drawings, weights and centres of gravity reports, steel material estimates and weld joint length estimates.

The unique combination of 3D modeling and creation of drawings in TRIBON gives substantial savings of man-hours as well as calendar time. Different design alternatives can be evaluated and compared with respect to steel weight and work contents in a short period of time.The fact that TRIBON M1 Basic Design works with a database compatible with the one used in other TRIBON applications means that the designers get a "quick start" for the detail design activities. Thus the manual copying of data between the two design phases is avoided.
