New Consultancy Service Helps Shipping Industry

Det Norske Veritas (DNV) has developed a new consultancy service that will help shipping companies to integrate safety, quality and environmental management into one, single system. Through the new service the number of audits will be significantly reduced depending on scope of work.

There is an increased demand for shipping companies to establish and maintain management systems covering safety, quality and environmental protection. Most companies initially address the International Safety Management (ISM) Code requirements as the mandatory code. But more and more companies see the benefits of implementing safety standards related to management of quality (ISO 9001) and environment (ISO 14000) in addition. This may be done stepwise or concurrently, all depending on the specific company's present status and strategy.By making use of the new integrated service from DNV, shipping companies are able to reduce the number of audits to a minimum. One audit team will be responsible for coordinating all three services in a uniform way.
