New Inmarsat-B System

      5/24/1999

The SKANTI Scansat-B 9900 is a combination of new thinking and workability fulfilling all requirements for an Inmarsat-B system. The BDU 9900 construction is based on PCB modules organized in line with the principles of the latest SKANTI TRP transceivers. Additional features like High Speed Data add an extra module - a principle that ensures easy service.
The BDU 9900 has two programmable transceiver ports, which may be programmed for PABX, fax or "ordinary" phone in accordance with customer requirements.
The NMEA gyro option enables the customer to secure a precise azimuth direction to the Inmarsat satellite for optimum tracking and safe connection. An interface for GPS is provided in the BDU 9900 for position reference, e.g. in case of emergency.
The data communication is Hayes compatible (AT) and the fax complies with CCITT Group 3. The optional high-speed data (56/64kbps) is easily obtained by adding a special PCB module into the Scansat-B 9900 Below Deck Unit. The BDU 9900 provides service interface for installation and maintenance purposes.
