Marintec China, the largest China Maritime Conference & Exhibition which finished on 9 December 2005 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, was a record-breaking event with 1,034 exhibiting companies attending and 30,097 visitors being registered. These figures are 28% and 25% over the previous 2003 event respectively. The exhibition expanded in size by 50% spanning 3 exhibition halls in the convention centre.
Exhibiting companies were from 28 countries and regions, including 15 national pavilions exhibiting at the fair. Over 70% of the companies came from abroad, underlining the international profile of what is now regarded as "the definitive maritime trade fair in Asia" and an important platform for the technology exchange between the international and Chinese maritime industries.
Visitors were pleased with the ever-increasing quality of Marintec China exhibitors and stands. Besides the large number of exhibiting companies providing a wide variety of products and services, visitors were also kept busy with the presentations and participation by the exhibitors.The Senior Maritime Forum with the theme of "New Trends in the Shipping Industry and New Developments in the Shipbuilding Industry in Present World" ran concurrently with the Marintec China exhibition. Over 500 maritime professionals attended the 5 conference sessions presented by 26 well-known industry leaders discussing the future trends and developments in the maritime industry.
Marintec China 2005 was organised and managed by CMP/Seatrade and the Shanghai Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineering (SSNAME). The next exhibition of Marintec China is scheduled for 27-30 November, 2007 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, China.
